At Mainstream, we want to ensure that our clients websites remain current, up-to-date and most importantly in alignment with internet compliance. As of January 1st, 2021, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) has mandated that organizations make their websites and web-based apps accessible. Websites must be compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA.
While we recommend every organization makes their website accessible, under the AODA, it is required for these organizations to be compliant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA:
- 50+ employees (including part-time, contractors, sub-contractors etc.) in private and non-profit organizations.
- All public-sector organizations.
We have solutions that will help to make your website more accessible. Please carefully review the three options listed below and then complete the form, indicating your plan of action. It is important to note that, even if you decide not to make your website compliant, an action is required.
Solution 1: Quick and Simple
This quick and simple plug-in upgrade will provide a credible level of compliancy for AODA requirements. This solution is something that we have used on our own websites as it provides a solution that is both cost effective and offers compliancy that generally meets the AODA requirements.
Solution 2: Advanced and Complete
This second option will include a more in-depth plug-in upgrade to a robust solution that uses an accessibility compliance software which employs a combination of AI technology and may require manual adjustments to fix and monitor website compliance errors in an ongoing manner. This solution involves an annual fee that would be billed to you on the anniversary date of its implementation.
Solution 3: No Update
The third option is to make no update at all. If you and your business are required to be compliant under the AODA or any other accessibility act but choose not to use any of the provided solutions we have offered, you hereby acknowledge, agree, and accept all risk, responsibilities, and penalties that may be associated with this decision. If you choose to opt out of solution 1 or 2, Mainstream Marketing requires a release so as to not be held responsible or liable for any impact resulting from a website not being compliant with the AODA requirements or any other accessibility acts.
