What is Digital Printing?
Digital printing is a more modern method of printing than offset printing. This method of printing was designed primarily to accommodate printing needs that are low quantity and/or needed for quick turnaround. If you have a desktop printer at home then you are already familiar with digital printing. Digital printing minimizes the number of mechanical steps you would encounter with the more traditional
offset printing
(making plates, films and colour proofs, manual plate assembly). In many cases, digital printing can result in a much more affordable print solution.
This process utilizes printing equipment that closely (visually) resembles that of a complex photocopier. However, the distinct difference between a colour photocopier and digital printing equipment is that the quality of the printed item(s) is press and graphic quality. These machines are calibrated to produce a very high end quality output that closely resembles the output of an
offset press. This process is most beneficial when timelines are tight and price per printed piece is slim.
Our digital printing equipment is a state-of-the-art Xerox machine. The quality and production speed is ranked among the best for printing quality. If you are in need of an affordable alternative to your printing project or require a project quickly or in low quantity, our digital printing equipment is ideal for these solutions. If you are looking for a larger print production or need to achieve a specific print quality then you may determine that another printing method may be a better choice for you. Discover if your needs are better accomplished using
offset printing,
large-format printing or Digital Printing.
So, as a recap, some of the advantages of digital printing are:
1.
A shorter turnaround - if you have a tight timeline - digital printing is definitely the way to go for you.
2.
Lower costs for small print runs
3.
Variable data printing available - if the print job you require is going to be distributed to a certain list of people (i.e. you would like to add personalized mailing labels) - digital printing can account for these types of databases and print accordingly.
